The flaming fountain at the Capitol Lake in Pierre burned as a continuous tribute to the state’s veterans from the 1970’s until the 2000’s. SDPB’s Statehouse crew talked with Bureau of Administration Special Projects Coordinator Leah Svendsen about how the fountain stayed alight, why the flame went out, and possibilities for relighting the memorial.
