Maybe they have a passion that they don't know, and I'm hopefully going to give them the opportunity to figure out what they like.
I'm Will Beecroft.
I'm an aviation maintenance instructor with Lake Superior Co We are starting our summer camp.
Lake Superior College puts on a two day camp for aviation.
For anybody that's interested in becoming a pilot or becoming a mechanic.
To try to pique that interest and hopefully they want to pursue that in the future.
I chose aviation by going to my guidance counselors office, not knowing what I wanted to do as a senior in high school.
I thought it sounded fun.
If aviation is something that they think sounds interesting, give me the chance to show them in two days.
What aviation is really like.
My favorite thing about teaching and running the camp has to be just watching their eyes light up when they see things in aviation.
They have some form of interest and they're trying to explore those ideas to figure out, is this what I want to do as a career path?
So in the next couple days, we're going to get them flying some airplanes, flying some helicopters.
We're going to get them in our full motion flight simulators and show them how to start a turbine engine.
But the best part about the camp is it's entirely free.
We don't want somebody to lose out on the chance of seeing if aviation is for them, just because of the cost of money.
So because of our generous donors, to kind of make this camp possible, we can keep it free for them.
