(upbeat music) - Taking control of your own destiny is extraordinarily important, and that's a combination of aspiration, inspiration, and the ability to want to be yourself, have fun doing what you do, and build something that's rewarding for you and your family.
(upbeat music) - [Ryan] The vast majority of entrepreneurs fail, and that's okay, you need to be willing to live with that, and most people, it's going to take a few times before you actually do succeed.
(upbeat music) - And there's no way of really preparing yourself for what launching your venture's going to look like.
But one thing to be mindful of is that it's really hard to escape and turn off your brain.
- [Priyanka] But here's the thing, though, if you believe 100 percent in what you're doing, you have go to for it, because the fear is always going to be there.
- [Announcer] Please join me in welcoming Dick Schultze to the stage.
(applause) - [Dick] Most businesses today put the customer first and foremost.
They value the importance of being able to sell what they make or what they serve to the customer.
Then they do it for the benefit of the shareholder, so what flows in profitability and return on investment goes to the shareholder, and then to the employee, and my sense is, they've just got it backwards, because the employee is the one that creates the experience, which is warm, friendly, inviting, and repetitive.
I can tell you for sure it's been a warm, friendly, and meaningful experience for me, for the entire duration and that's over five decades.
