A trip to the Metropolitan Museum of Art for "Juan de Pareja: Afro-Hispanic Painter."

A trip to the Met for "Juan de Pareja: Afro-Hispanic Painter." Pareja is largely known today as the subject of the iconic portrait by Diego Velázquez. Enslaved for more than two decades, upon his emancipation, he charted his own artistic path. The exhibition also examines the ways in which enslaved artisanal labor and a multiracial society are linked with the art of Spain's Golden Age.
