Private citizens are using magnets and scuba gear to rid our waterways of unseen trash.

Litter can really spoil a scenic view. But it’s the litter you can’t see that has caught the attention of some private citizens who are cleaning up trash they find underwater in the Great Lakes region. In Detroit, people are using magnets to scoop up scrap metal, while a teenager in Toronto dives deep to pick up what others have left behind. Their efforts are making a difference.
