>> WHEN I TOOK THE FOOTAGE FROM THE CARD AND IMPORTED IT INTO PREMIER WHICH IS THE EDITING SOFTWARE WE'RE USING.
I HAD NICOLE EDIT THE FOOTAGE AND THEN AFTER SHE WAS DONE EDITING, I KEYED OUT THE GREEN SCREEN, WHICH MEANS BASICALLY EDITING COLOR TO MATCH, AND THEN WE COMPOSITED IT, WHICH MEANS LIKE PUTTING IT TOGETHER INTO PIECES INTO THE FOOTAGE.
AND THEN WE RENDERED.

>> IT'S INTERESTING BECAUSE EVERY DIRECTOR WORKS DIFFERENTLY, BUT FOR A STORY VIDEO LIKE THIS, YOU END UP WITH A LOT MORE FOOTAGE THAN OBVIOUSLY WILL FIT IN THE SONG, RIGHT, AND YOU ALSO HAVE TO MAKE CONSIDERATIONS, LIKE, YOU KNOW, ARE WE -- ARE WE CUTTING TO THE BEAT?
YOU KNOW, ARE WE HITTING THE DRAMATIC MOMENT WHERE THEY SHOULD IN THE MOMENT OF THE SONG?
BECAUSE THE SONG HAS ITS OWN DRAMA, SO MAKING THOSE CONSIDERATIONS AND TRYING TO FIT ALL THE PIECES OF THE PUZZLE TOGETHER.

IT'S A DOCUMENTARY, AND IT FOLLOWS TATTOO ARTIST AS SHE WORKS ON HER PROJECT, CAPTURING PHOTOS OF PEOPLE'S SCARS, OTHER SKIN ABNORMALITIES.

THAT'S ONE PLACE KIND OF EVERYBODY GOES.

SOMEHOW I LIKE MANAGED TO KEEP IT A SECRET FROM MY PARENTS FOR TWO YEARS.

SOME SORT OF AUTOIMMUNE THING.

>> WELL, I GOT A SCAR FROM GETTING STABBED IN THE ARM BY A WINE GLASS STEM.
I ACTUALLY FELT THE WIND BLOWING INSIDE MY ARM.
>> SKIN WITH A SCREWDRIVER, MILITARY TRAINING.
>> I HAVE HEARD ALL KINDS OF STORIES.
THERE WAS A GUY WHO HAD BEEN HIT HEAD ON BY A DRUNK DRIVER.
HE SHATTERED A BUNCH OF THE BONES IN HIS LEGS AND FEET, AND HE REMEMBERED LAYING IN THE SNOWBANK, BECAUSE THEY WERE TRYING TO STOP HIM FROM BLEEDING SO MUCH.
A WOMAN ACTUALLY I KNOW HAD A VASECTOMY MY AND SHE CHOSE NOT TO HAVE THE RECONSTRUCTION SURGERY.
>> THERE WERE MANY TIMES WHEN I WOULD LOOK AT MYSELF IN THE MIRROR AND FEEL MUTILATED, BUT ONCE THE TATTOO NECKLACE WAS COMPLETED, I FELT BEAUTIFUL, LIKE I WAS A WALKING PIECE OF ART.
>> THERE WERE A COUPLE OF PEOPLE WHO HAVE BEEN BURNED PRETTY BADLY.
>> 30 YEARS AGO WHEN SOMEONE WAS RELIGHTING A BARBIE CUE GRILL WITH GASOLINE, I WAS BURNED.
GOD REACHED DOWN AND SAVED ME.
>> ONE WOMAN IT HAPPENED WHEN SHE WAS ABOUT 13 YEARS OLD AND TO ME IT WAS REALLY INSPIRING BECAUSE SHE WAS VERY COMFORTABLE IN HER SKIN.
SOME PEOPLE HAVE COMPLETELY OPENED UP TO ME AND TOLD ME STORIES THAT THEY'VE NEVER TOLD ANYONE IN THEIR LIFE.
THERE WAS A GIRL, SHE CAME UP AND KIND OF TALKED TO ME A LITTLE BIT AND THEN TOLD ME THAT SHE USED TO CUT HERSELF.
SHE WANTED PEOPLE TO KNOW THAT SHE'D STOPPED AND SHE WANTED PEOPLE TO KNOW IT DOES STOP.
>> I HAVE NO SIGNIFICANT PHYSICAL -- >> I EVEN HAD ONE POPPLE WHO HAD NO VISIBLE SCARS BUT SHE FELT IT WAS VERY IMPORTANT TO SHARE HER EMOTIONAL SCARS AND WE PHOTOGRAPHED A PART OF HER BODY THAT SHE REALLY DIDN'T LIKE.
>> AND I USE MY OWN -- >> SHE HAD SUFFERED ABUSE, TRYING TO GET PAST IT, THAT'S SOMETHING THAT ALWAYS KIND OF BROUGHT BACK THE MEMORIES.
QUITE A FEW PEOPLE TOLD ME IT'S BEEN A HEALING PROCESS FOR THEM, THAT IT FEELS NICE TO BE ABLE TO TALK ABOUT IT RATHER THAN HAVING PEOPLE WONDER.
>> ARE YOU ON FACEBOOK AT ALL?
>> UH-HUH.
>> HAVE YOU FOUND THE FACEBOOK PAGE FOR IT?
>> YEAH, YEAH.
>> OH, OKAY.
