Clip: Special | 3m 22sVideo has Closed Captions
One of the nation's largest buffalo herds is rounded up every September.
The Custer State Park buffalo herd started with 36 rescued bison in 1914. The herd in 2020 numbered about 4500. Every year, Park staff round the buffalo up, bringing them into corrals for testing and vaccinations. Riders on horseback and park staff in trucks drive the herd several miles through park pastures. The event has become a major South Dakota tourist attraction.
